Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Trade Funday (“we”, “us”, “the site”) handles information when you visit tradefunday.com. We run a small educational blog. We collect as little personal information as we can, and we do not sell personal information. Our readers are mainly in the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom, and Australia, so this policy also covers rights that may apply in those places.

The site is run by Muzamil Hussain. You can contact us at hello@tradefunday.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us

If you use our contact form or email us, we receive the details you provide, such as your name, email address, subject and message. We use them only to read and reply to your message. Please do not send sensitive information such as account numbers, passwords or government ID numbers.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our web server and hosting provider may record standard log data, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, date and time, and the page that referred you. We use this information to keep the site secure and working.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. The site and the tools it uses may set cookies to remember settings, improve performance (for example caching) and understand how the site is used. You can control cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics, through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to understand which articles are read and how visitors find them. Analytics tools may use cookies or similar technologies and may collect information such as your approximate location, device, browser and pages viewed. We use this information only to improve the site. Learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Advertising and Google AdSense

If and when we show ads on this site, we will use Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Google may also use cookies from DoubleClick for this purpose.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. To learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we will ask for your consent before using cookies for personalized advertising where the law requires it.

How we use information

  • To reply to your messages and requests.
  • To run, secure and improve the site.
  • To understand which content is useful.
  • To show ads, if and when we display them.
  • To meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages for marketing.

Legal bases (EU and UK)

If you are in the EU or UK, the UK GDPR and EU GDPR require us to have a legal basis for using your personal data. We rely on:

  • Consent, for cookies that are not strictly necessary, such as personalized advertising, where required. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests, for running, securing and improving the site and answering your messages, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation, where we must keep or share information by law.

Your rights

EU and UK

You may have the right to access your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.

United States

Depending on where you live, state privacy laws (such as those in California and other states) may give you rights, where applicable, to know what personal information we hold, request deletion or correction, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. We will not discriminate against you for using these rights.

Australia

If you are in Australia, the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles may apply. You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, and you can complain to us or to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

How to use your rights

Email hello@tradefunday.com with your request. We may need to confirm your identity first. We aim to respond within a reasonable time and within the time required by the law that applies to you.

Sharing information

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site, such as our web host, caching, form and analytics tools, and, if we show ads, Google. These providers handle data under their own terms and policies. We may also share information if the law requires it or to protect the site and its users. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, where data protection rules may differ.

Data retention

We keep contact messages only as long as needed to reply and for a reasonable period afterward, then delete them. Server logs follow our hosting provider’s retention schedule. Analytics data is kept according to the settings of the analytics provider.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, including HTTPS and trusted service providers. No website or online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, please email us and we will delete it.

External links

Our articles link to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we change it in a significant way, we will make that clear on the site.
